What Benefits Do Breathwork and Kundalini Yoga Provide?

My favorite classes have been pranayama or breathing classes because my students tell me they feel absolutely amazing and empowered afterward. They have a sense of wellbeing and experience a natural high . All you have to do is targeted breathing.
You’re going to breathe anyway, its automatic so why not Empower yourself with deliberate breathing for your health and wellness.
If you can control your breath, you can control your life. You can control your lung capacity. As you do this, you can control your fears, anxiety and crazy thoughts. You can release your anger and depression and you can feel much better.
Start With the Breath
The fastest thing breathwork gives you is a changed state, and I mean fast, within minutes. Intentional breathing expands your lung capacity, and from there it reaches everything. Clarity, because the mental fog is often just a nervous system stuck in alarm, and the breath switches the alarm off. Balance, because your inner weather settles when your breath does. Strength, and I don't only mean just diaphram muscle, I mean the steadiness to stand in your own life. And energy, the clean no substance kind, the kind that doesn't crash on you an hour later like caffeine does.
All that in just the first ten minutes of class.
Then Add the Kundalini Yoga
Where the breath changes your state, Kundalini yoga changes your baseline. It's called the yoga of awareness, and the name is earned. A kriya works your muscles and your nervous system, your glandular system, your chakras, and the electromagnetic field around your body, all in the same practice. That's why a sixty-minute Kundalini class can move more in you than months of something else. It's precise. Every kriya has a job and every class is different.
Practice consistently and something starts to build that's called the Radiant Body, the field of presence around you. You know those people who walk into a room and you simply feel them, before they say a word? That's their aura, a cultivated field. Kundalini is one of the most direct ways there is to build it.
What I Watch Happen, Week After Week
Let me tell you what I actually see, because this is the part no list of benefits captures.
I see the woman who arrived with her shoulders around her ears, wearing all black and looking defeated in October, looking radiant, bright, clear and wearing colors again by December. I see the man who couldn't sit still for three minutes, eyes darting all around, now going so deep in meditation we practically have to call him back. I hear people say they feel better and they can sleep again. People get unstuck from decisions that had them frozen for a year (there is even a kriya called Unstuck)!. Every class i see someone cry on the mat and laugh two minutes later, both completely real. I watch nervous systems remember how to feel safe, and everything in a life reorganizes around that.
These are measurable experiences that students describe consistently, class after class. I'm just the one lucky enough to have the front-row seat.
Come Test It Yourself
Don't take my word for any of this. That's the beauty of it, you can test it on your own nervous system this week. We practice every Wednesday and Sunday at 9:30am, in person on our private outdoor yoga deck in Vista, just north of San Diego, and live online from anywhere. Breathwork, meditation, mantra, and sacred sound healing, all woven into one class. Zero experience is required, and see what your own breath has been waiting to show you. The schedule is at communiteayoga.com/live-yoga, and memberships are at communiteayoga.com/memberships-1 whenever you're ready for a rhythm.
